Braised Pork Belly Bento | JustOneCookbook.com Happy Monday!  Let’s start the week with a bento recipe!

Well, I know my post today is a bit later than usual but the site was experiencing some technical issues last night and the post got delayed.  If you are trying to search on my blog right now, it’s not available at this time.  My husband and I will fix it soon and I’m sorry for the inconvenience.  If you are curious what happened, 2 ip addresses spammed 5,000 comments and basically crashed my site and corrupted my database for 5 hours last night.  :(

As Mondays are my son’s minimum day at school, I get a break from making a bento lunch.  However, even when he comes home for lunch, he sometimes would request that I make a bento for him.  I’m happy to see he is enjoying Japanese bento culture.

Previous Dinner was:

Braised Pork Belly (Kakuni)!  We loooove this pork belly dish very much.  I have to admit that it does take some time to make it, but the result is so worth it.

Braised Pork Belly Bento Recipe

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Fill up half of bento box with Japanese rice. Let it cool so that hot/warm rice will not warm up other cool food.
  2. Reheat leftover Braised Pork Belly in a frying pan until it's warm thoroughly.
  3. Pack cooled Braised Pork Belly in a silicone cup and put in bento box.
  4. Put Tamagoyaki and broccoli in the bento box.
  5. Wash tomatoes and pat dry. Place nicely in the bento box.
  6. Sprinkle furikake on top of rice.
  7. Cool down completely before closing the bento box.

I would ask for a bento lunch, too, if it looked like this. I love all your pork belly posts (well your posts, in general). :)

Sorry to hear about the technical issues. I’d be pulling my hair out if that happened to me. Hope everything is back to normal soon.

So sorry to hear of your site crashing and the technical issues you had. What a pain! Hope everything is back to normal with you? This braised pork belly was hard to resist when I saw it in my In box just now. How delicious! Even if I’m not making lunchboxes anymore, I can still do this for my family and they will go wild when I say pork belly. Thanks for sharing the recipe, Nami & Happy Monday! Thank you too, for the amazing comments you gave me when you came to blog-visit. So nice of you to always support me :-)

I would love this bento! I can’t get enough braised pork belly. It’s so delicious. I’ve never tried to make it home, only ordered it in restaurants. I hope you’re having a great week Nami! :) (And I can’t believe someone spammed you that many times! Glad you got it all worked out.)

Dear Nami,

Your site seems to be working fine now, nothing that Shen can’t fix :)

I think your son would be the envy of all his friends with this delicious pork belly bento. When I was a kid, I never liked pork and now I wonder what the problem was!!

I would request a Bento box every lunch too. The prok belly looks amazing. I hate eating anything fat. If there is a little white stuff on a prok chop or steak I cut it of. Pork belly is the exception to the rule. Wow sorry about that crazy spamming.

Exactly samething happened with my blog last month Nami. 1 ip address made 7000 hit n just crashed my site… my host provider has set a rule that if any ip address is trying to leave more than certain amount of comment they blog it… may be you wanna ask your hosting service n see if you can do this.
Lemme me know if you need any specific info about how they did…

I’m sorry to hear that you have some technical problems. It sounds scary… but I’m sure you will be able to fix this soon.
I love pork and braised fatty pork (belly or ribs) are my beloved dishes. I haven’t tried yet kakuni, but I have been meaning to prepare it for such a long time. Thank you for reminding me! Actually not only are your bentos beautiful and inspiring, but they are excellent reminders of your previously posted recipes! It’s really a great idea.

I can’t ever let my daughter see your site and what you send your son to school with! She’d park her peanut butter and jelly sandwich in front of me and demand better fare. The whole thing looks absolutely delicious (especially that pork belly). I’m off to have a look at that recipe now.

Another lovely bento! Your son is so lucky! ;-) Sorry about the site issues. I’m really not understanding the deal with the spam. Even if some of it gets published (and very little of it does), it’s all so dumb! Why anyone would click on links for the weird stuff they tend to promote is beyond me, particularly since so many of the messages are basically incomprehensible. Anyway, good post – thanks.

I think I’ve said it before but I;ll say it again: you make the most delicious bento boxes! Some bentos are just fancy looking and cute, but no substance at all. Yours is a combination of all factors! Pork belly = YUM! Your kids must be the envy of their school cafeteria!

As usual, I am envious of your son’s lunch. :) He has to be the luckiest boy in school. And it’s great he embraces the food of your culture. Sometimes kids feel self-conscious eating things that are different from everyone else’s, but I’d swap with him in a second!
